Vale Brian Porter

The Mitcham Cricket Club is saddened to hear of the passing of former player, Captain & Coach, Brian Porter.

Brian played for Richmond CC from 1960-1965 culminating in one game for Victoria in 1964/1965 v WA.

Brian joined us in 1981/1982 as Club Captain and became Club coach in 1982/1983 where he played 32 1stXI games with a highest score of 104 v Blackburn in 1981/1982, and took us to finals in the Ray McIntosh Shield in 1981/1982 & 1982/1983.

Following retirement from playing, Brian took up umpiring where he umpired over 200 McIntosh Shield games over 18 seasons, and umpired in at least 12 Ray McIntosh Shield Grand finals.

Brian was inducted as an inaugural member of the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association Hall of Fame in February this year.
