Australian Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People’ is in place to ensure that cricket creates a safe, fair and inclusive environment for all Children and Young People associated with our sport from Affiliated Associations and Clubs through to Australian Cricket programs and services. As a part of Australian Cricket, we are all committed to ensuring that Safeguarding Children and Young People is central to the development of our game. A nationally endorsed Policy focused on Safeguarding Children and Young People, provides greater support to community cricket clubs and associations, helping everyone understand their responsibilities when around children, and how to report any incidences of abuse.

Mitcham Cricket Club Endorsement

Mitcham Cricket Club has endorsed Australian Cricket’s Commitment to Safeguarding Children and Young People and associated policies as set out in the documents at https://www.cricketvictoria.com.au/safeguarding/child-safeguarding/

As part of the My Cricket online registration process, parents/guardians and players agree to be bound by any codes of behaviour and policies of the Mitcham Cricket Club for the time being in force, including the Australian Cricket “Looking after our Kids” Code of Behaviour for affiliated Associations and Clubs.

Any player or volunteer of the Mitcham Cricket Club that do not register via the My Cricket online registration process will be required to sign the Member Protection Declaration

Cricket Victoria Member Protection Policy

The purpose of the Cricket Victoria (CV) Member Protection Policy is to provide guidelines for the protection of the health, safety and wellbeing of all persons who participate in the activities of CV Organisations including affiliated clubs. The CV Policy sets out the procedures to be followed in dealing with harassment and other forms of inappropriate behaviour in an effective, appropriate and timely manner. The Policy provides a procedure for informal and formal resolution of complaints and a procedure for the appeal of such complaints.

Persons required to comply with this Policy, must adhere to all requirements in regard to their conduct during any activity held by, sanctioned by or under the auspices of a CV Organisation.

Working with Children Check and & Play by the Rules Child Protection Requirements

It is a requirement for all Mitcham Cricket Club Committee & Sub-Committee Members, Junior Senior Coaches, Junior and Senior Team Managers and Senior Captains to have a current Working with Children Check and have completed the Play by the Rules Child Protection Course.

Photographs of Children & Young people

Mitcham Cricket Club may, from time to time, record or take photographs at training, matches and other events organised or attended by Mitcham Cricket Club for the purposes of promoting Mitcham Cricket Club. These recordings or images may be used by Mitcham Cricket Club on its website, social media pages, advertising material or in publications. Mitcham Cricket Club may also, from time to time, take recordings or photographs for the purpose of skill correction and analysis.

Images will not be exhibited on the club website or in publications without the parent or guardian’s knowledge and approval (via a completed image consent form) or such images will be presented in a manner that de-identifies the Child or Young Person.

Transporting Children

Mitcham Cricket club acknowledges that from time to time there are valid reasons for transporting Children and Young People. If such arrangements are in place where players are being transported by other players’ parents or guardians or other means of transport (eg. Taxi), the Mitcham Cricket Club seeks Parent/Guardian approval and consent via a completed Transportation Approval Form.

If you are unhappy with the way you, your child or another child is being treated speak to your parent/guardian or to the Mitcham Cricket Club Safety Officer.

Mitcham Cricket Club will treat any complaint or allegation of Child Abuse, Bullying, Harassment or other inappropriate conduct seriously and with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality. All matters will be dealt with in accordance with the CV Member Protection Policy Guidelines.
