Danny Wood Medal

“The most valuable player in Mitcham’s over 50’s veterans teams is awarded the Danny Wood Medal. Danny has made an enormous contribution to the running of Mitcham’s veterans teams from the time he first played with the over 40’s, 2001/02 for over 20 seasons. He was integral in the formation and organisation of a second over 40’s team in 2003/04, an over 50’s team in 08/09 and over 60’s in 21/22, captaining many of these teams. He played over 125 games of veterans for Mitcham scoring over 1500 runs and taken nearly 70 wickets.

Danny also served Mitcham as treasurer for 3 seasons and played 21 games of senior cricket for the club intermittently from 2002/03 to 14/15. In 2015/16 the club named the award for best player in the over 50’s after Danny Wood to recognise his outstanding service to veterans cricket.
